Crystal of  Colle val d'Elsa

Colle Val d'Elsa is a town in the province of Siena, characterized by a tradition of glass, which in the Middle Ages allowed to produce and work the glass at a high quality level. The soils of the area provided the minerals needed for production of glass (sandy soils, barium and manganese) and the marble of the nearby Montagnola then allowed to obtain a shiny and valuable.
The "City of Crystal", thus it is nicknamed the understanding of Colle Val d'Elsa, today, provides 15 percent of global production and 95 percent of the national production of crystal glassware.
In the territory, next to the large and medium companies with series production, survives a multitude of small craft, consisting of a few employees, who work largely under the direct control of the owner.
These companies operating in the area, are involved and active and collaborate with each other to maintain the knowledge and experience to pass on. The goal is to maintain the highest standards of production over time, alongside the traditional search for new technologies in order to maintain well-rooted in the territory production so fascinating and exclusive.
To ensure quality, local companies have formed a consortium that has agreed to adopt a symbol unique and exclusive distinguishes each product so that it is easily recognizable by every purchaser and is a guarantee of compliance with all the rules in force in respect of each production. The origin mark is the Red Horse of the "Crystal Colle di Val d'Elsa Tuscany" synonymous with a high quality product blown and cut by hand.
